The Wine Cabinet

Dear Subscriber

Beginning this weekend and going through all of next week, we"ll be celebrating 15 years of serving the Northern Virginia community"s wine, beer and good times!!

Join us Every Day or Any Day - This Week and Every Week!!

We officially opened the doors on Thursday, Oct 16 2003. We actually made our first sale earlier in the week to a lady desperate for a bottle of wine to take as a gift to a dinner party. It was Gary Farrell Pinot Noir. We weren"t prepared take her money, but we wrapped up the bottle and asked her to come back when we were open. Melinda has been a loyal patron these many years. We appreciate her faith in us and we notice that all of our patrons are like her - loyal and honest.

Over the years we"ve tried quite diligently and persistently to listen to what you like and don"t like; to what you buy and what you pass over; to who you enjoy working with and to what makes you happy about supporting us. Thanks for your constant feedback!!

Our week long celebration is designed to show you our appreciation for your support.
There"s a complete list below and links to some of the Events with more information.

Let us know what we might do in the future to keep you as our patrons.
We currently have over 1500 different wines in the shop. Over 400 are under $20.
Special orders and menu matching are the fun parts of what we do for you,
but if there"s something we haven"t thought of - don"t be shy - tell us!!

Once again, the staff at The Wine Cabinet would like to express our appreciation for the loyal support that you have given us over the last 15 years.

We"ll be celebrating next week, but we wanted to take a moment today to say Thank You and remember -

"We have a bottle of wine for every palate and every wallet!"

"Make every day an occasion at
The Wine Cabinet."

"Gladly serving the community, one bottle at a time."

All statements of how we intend to continue being your preferred place to get your wine, beer and all the things that go along with it.

We work very hard to make certain that you have the locally produced products that keep all of us just a bit happier!

11 October, 2018

4:00 - 8:00 pm

(All purchases must be accompanied by a credit card.)

2016 Cabernet Sauvignon

 Paso Robles, California
90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Petite Sirah

You may remember we featured the 2015 vintage in the spring.
We sold out very quickly and were unable to keep much on the shelf afterwards.
This bottling is every bit as palate pleasing as the last, with just a touch more dark fruit.
As their vines have aged and a cooling trend in the region has enabled longer hang time, Treana has improved their wine year after year.
This vintage continues that trend - is a great wine and a great value.

Our Thoughts.........

Rich and palate coating, the intense black fruit flavors are marked by a distinctive toasted/smoky-oak. The tannins are moderate and velvety, and the acidity balances the richness of the wine, leading to a long oak-driven finish.

A bit about the Family…
The Hope family has been farming in Paso Robles for more than 30 years. When they arrived in this barely-discovered region, they planted apples and grapes. Little did they know that the rolling, oak-studded terrain of Paso Robles would one day become viticultural terroir of significance and one of the top winegrowing regions for quality red wine within the Central Coast.
Gone are the apple orchards. Today, the Hopes cultivate mature vineyards of the varieties best suited to their area including Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Mourvedre and Grenache. Vine density has increased and each vine is asked to produce very little fruit. The terroir of this domain expresses itself in its unique regional character. Regardless of the varieties planted, the expression of Paso Robles is displayed in the glass with spice, licorice and berry in the nose, soft textures and silky tannins on the palate.

A bit about Paso Robles…

Paso Robles is a place like no other. Rich, diverse soils and oak-studded hills create a stunning landscape. The hot summer sun and cool evening breezes sweeping in off the Pacific are reliable and well-suited to the Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah we use to craft our signature blend, Treana Red. The Cabernet imparts structure through its generous fruit flavor and velvety mouthfeel, while the Syrah contributes a smoky richness thanks to the generous warmth of the sun, which mimics that of the Côte-Rôtie.
Extending to Monterey in the north and Santa Barbara in the south, California’s Central Coast showcases a wide array of wine growing appellations. Treana’s winemakers find the climate of Monterey to be perfect for imparting the delicate acidity found in Treana White. The foothills of the San Lucia highlands get magnificent morning sun exposure, brilliant light that we capture in the bottle.

Wild Wolf 151 Ale with Blackberries (Virginia) 6 pack $13.99
Wild Wolf Brewing Company was one of the Virginia breweries honored Monday during the 2017 Virginia Craft Beer Cup Awards in Richmond Monday. Wild Wolf received a distinguished Bronze Medal Award – Fruit Beer, for its Area 151 beer.  Wild Wolf Brewing Company released Area 151, a Belgian Style Ale Brewed with Blackberries in March of 2017. Area 151 is named for our location on Highway 151. This Belgian Style Ale has blackberries added during fermentation, giving the beer a beautiful color. We filter area 151 prior to packaging to add a crispness and to help bring the fruit forward. At Wild Wolf, we think beer first, fruit second!

Brewmaster Danny Wolf “I am particularly proud of this beer. We will only use real fruit in our beers, so it was challenging to find a number of great choices and then narrow it down to the brand of blackberries we are using. The color, aroma and flavor are just perfect.”

Slick and polished, handsome and sexy, dashing with a firm body. Former super model turned winemaker, Leo Hillinger, created this blend to make an easy, soft, drinkable, red with dark fruit. The Beers!!

Evil Twin Molotov Lite Double IPA 4 pack $13.99
"Pours a cloudy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is pungent, with loads of wonderfully aromatic herbal skunky hops, a little pot, and tropical fruits. Flavour is just as wonderful, with tropical fruits, skunky herbal hops, some resinous notes, and just enough malt. Impeccable balance to this. This is everything I love about a IIPA. Fruity, skunky, resinous and well-balanced. Wonderful stuff."

Southern Tier "Warlock" Pumpkin Stout 17 oz. $7.99
" Pours a dark brown with thin tan ring. Aroma of pumpkin pie, graham cracker crust, vanilla, and roasted malts. Not a lot of spices on the nose, but they definitely hit the palate. Pumpkin spices, roasted malts, vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, and chocolate. Creamy mouthfeel. Not overwhelmed by cinnamon and nutmeg like most pumpkin beers. Well balanced, nice sweet malts with a bitter bite on the finish. Really enjoyed this one."
