Château Vermont
La Grande
Cuvée
Bordeaux
2020
90% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot
Entre-deux-Mers, Bordeaux, France
I visited this Estate back in January and got to taste several vintages with the Labat’s, the 2020 was the clear winner from my time in Bordeaux!
Chateau Vermont is a charming 19th Century Château surrounded by 40 hectares of vines. Fourth Generation wine cultivators David and Elisabeth Labat have carried the torch and built upon the foundation laid by previous generations.
Lush, Round and Interesting!

James Suckling
"This is attractive and delicate with a medium body and polished texture. It shows an array of blackberries and blueberries as well as violets, light tobacco and walnuts. Nicely shaped and structured with firm tannins and a flavorful finish."

Wine Enthusiast
"Ripe and smoky with wood aged flavors, the wine is full bodied and structured. Blackberry flavors and a cut of acidity are an attractive contrast to the wine"s texture. "
Our Thoughts on this wine....
Made from the best parcels of this estate, with low yields and optimal vine age maturity. This wine is remarkably balanced and harmonious. The nose releases a pleasant bouquet. It is a mix of red berries, and plums highlighting the merits of the dominant Merlot. The palate reveals concentration and roundness with a harmonious balance between the aromatic structure and a toasted finish. To enjoy immediately, but can be aged between 5 and 7 years.

A bit about Chateau Vermont...
Chateau Vermont is a historical property of the Entre-Deux-Mers area. In 1874, it was listed as a "Premier Cru" of the Entre-deux-Mers (Guide Féret 1874 -3rd edition). The estate is now run by husband and wife David and Elisabeth Labat - the 4th generation of the family winegrowers.
After specialized studies in viticulture and oenology, Elisabeth joined the family estate alongside her parents, Jacques and Colette Dufourg. Elisabeth was then joined by husband David, very much involved in wine, and bringing his technical knowledge as well as commercial dynamism. Together they carried out significant renovation work. A brand new winery and bottling cellar were built in just 6 months out of the historic clay outbuildings - investments in modern equipment to improve quality.
After years of practicing sustainable agriculture, Château Vermont obtained HVE level 3 certification. This certification attests to the family commitment to using environmentally friendly processes that promote biodiversity.
