Cabernet Sauvignon

100% Napa Valley
2019

85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10%Merlot,
2.5% each of Cabernet Franc
and Petite Verdot

This wine is one of our top sellers for under $40 Cabernets!

A "textbook" example of this noble variety grown in this outstanding appellation and that it can be enjoyed for several years to come.  The 2019 has just been released so it is unrated but one taste and we knew it would score high like the last three vintages.
To fully appreciate how great a wine value this is look at Textbook’s neighbors!!!!

 Our Thoughts......

Dark and red fruits, plums, black cherry’s with a hint of coco , framed by medium/full supple tannins, layered and sumptuous in the mouth. 2.5% each of Petite Verdot and Cabernet Franc adds the tiniest element of spice to the wine.  It  is  such  a  small  amount  that  the  effect  is  modest,  but  it adds delicious complexity. The finish has ample oak that marries the finishing textures to the fruit. 90% French (35% New) 10%  American

Six of our favorite Napa Cabernet food pairings:

Steak - The obvious one. Especially slightly fattier steaks like ribeye and sirloin, served rare to medium-rare

Burgers - Which is, after all, simply chopped steak. Generally though it"s the other ingredients that determine the success (or otherwise) of the pairing. Try adding aged Gouda, smoky barbecue sauce and crispy fried onions.

Beef short ribs - Slow-braised beef - or venison - can be great too especially when cooked in red wine.

Roast or grilled lamb- A butterflied leg of lamb or a lamb steak with rosemary is always a winner.

Portabella mushrooms - If you’re not a meat-eater, a big juicy grilled Portabella mushroom with butter and garlic is a great pairing. The intense flavor of dried porcini mushrooms will also make a cab shine.

Cheese - If you"re wondering what the best cheese is with cabernet sauvignon you"ll find it"s a good all-rounder for a cheeseboard especially with hard cheeses such as an aged cheddar or Gouda. Blue cheeses like Gorgonzola work well too.

A bit about Textbook ......

Located in Napa, CA, Textbook was founded in 2004 by industry veterans Jonathan and Susan Pey, and produces distinctive wines from coveted Napa Valley and Oakville vineyard sites. The Pey’s European background led to Textbook’s “bold-yet-balanced” winemaking style which has made Textbook an industry-leading producer of inspiring Napa Valley wines enjoyed by discerning wine consumers across the U.S. and abroad. Napa Valley produces less than 5% of California’s wines and is without peer when it comes to producing North America’s finest Cabernet Sauvignon. Textbook specializes in small lots of critically-acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay from some of Napa Valley best vineyards.
