Pinot Noir from Anderson Valley, CA
Pinot noir taste is the stuff of legend.
It makes many winemakers dream of making wines from this ancient, noble grape and seduces many more wine enthusiasts.
Pinot Noir can be so compelling that it’s not uncommon to hear of wine lovers’ obsession with this charismatic grape variety!
Typically, Pinot Noir is dry, light- to medium-bodied, with bright acidity, silky tannins and alcohol that ranges between 12–15%. The best Pinot Noir taste has complex flavors that include cherry, raspberry, mushroom and forest floor, plus vanilla and baking spice when aged in French oak.
Tasting Pinot Noir starts not only with a nice bottle but also with a good Pinot Noir glass.
A clear wine glass will allow you to enjoy the wine’s color.
A Pinot Noir wine glass with an opening that curves into the center of the wine glass will help concentrate Pinot Noir’s aromas. While there are many red wine glasses that are made to work with almost any grape variety and wine style, the classic Pinot Noir glass shape has a wide, more horizontal, bowl to allow Pinot Noir’s smells – which are often more delicate than other major wine styles – to surface more quickly.
A thin-rimmed wine glass will allow the Pinot Noir to slip smoothly onto your tongue. (They also tend to look more refined.) Pinot Noir taste is focused on a range of things, from the wine’s body, tannins, acidity, dryness and refinement.

“From the team at Domaine Anderson, this is a blend of fruit from nine estate vineyards.
After tasting it with our panel, I later tasted it with Darrin Low and Arnaud Weyrich, who worked together on the blend, and who described it as a “New World style; a richer, riper pleasure wine,” comparing it to the “Old World, more transparent style” of the 2015 Domaine Anderson (also recommended here). In fact, I find this to be the more delicate and transparent of the two, open and racy, with a lacy fragrance of red apples and apple blossoms. Perhaps it is more varietal: It just tastes so much like pinot noir in its light wild-strawberry flavors and tight, slightly stemmy tannins. It’s completely appetite inducing, especially with King salmon roasted with chanterelles.” Josh Greene
Our Thoughts......
Elegant and reserved aromas are pretty with freshly crushed cherry, mushroom and black fruit tones.
Generous flavors ofplum, blackberry and leather are uplifted with a great texture, silky tannin and crisp acidity.
Food Pairings: works beautifully with roasted beef tenderloin, creamy Parmesan chicken, salmon, duck, and semi-hard cheeses such as asiago and manchego.

A bit about Carpe Diem ......
Domaine Anderson is nestled in the breathtaking, fog-cooled hillside and mountain terrain of Northern California’s Anderson Valley. Purchased by Champagne Louis Roederer in 2011, the Dach family vineyard prides itself on its limited production and classical wine making style. The cooling marine climate characteristic of this region provides ideal conditions for the cultivation of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. All the wines wines are crafted with precision and care to express the uniqueness of the Anderson Valley terroir.
