Dear Subscriber
Today is Thursday, 25 February
The weather has eased up a bit.
Hopefully, most of the snow and ice is gone from your homestead
and you can enjoy a bit of sun and moderate temperatures.
At least for the next few days, until the rain sets in.
In the meantime, we have a Rhone wine that will make staying inside and enjoying a good roast
just what you had in mind!
Xavier is justly famous for all of their wines,
but this Ventoux is honestly my favorite.
(A close second is the Beaumes de Venise).
If that doesn"t do it for you, The Oskar Blues Imperial Stout should wash down your favorite meal perfectly well.
Come by or call and we"ll get everything together for you

60% Grenache and 40% Syrah

With the average age of the vines over 50 years this bottling really over performs!
Last year we offered both Xavier"s Lirac and Cote du Rhone for Thirsty Thursday
only to sell out the entire state quickly. If you haven"t tasted one of his wines,
they are truly a notch above and drink north of their price point.

"Aromas of cassis and blueberries here with a spiced blueberry-pastry note, too.
The palate has a juicy feel with crunchy, spiced blue fruit and a smooth transition to the gently chewy finish.
Drink over the next five years."
What Robert Parker says about Xavier
"Xavier Vignon, along with Philippe Cambie, are probably the two most highly renowned oenologists in Chateauneuf du Pape as well as some of the surrounding Cotes du Rhone regions. He is the consultant for such well-known domaines as Raymond Usseglio, Jerome Quiot, Beaurenard, LaNerthe, Mont Redon, Marcoux, Grand Veneur and La Gardine. They access gorgeous fruit from many different appellations and are doing a top-flight job of getting impressive quality into the bottle. Moreover, there are some top values in their portfolio as well. Many of his wines are released quite late onto the market, as he prefers to age wines up to three winters before bottling and two winters after bottling." - Robert Parker
Our Thoughts on this wine....
Coming from a handful of sites in the Ventoux (mostly higher elevation, cooler vineyards), the 2017 Ventoux offers notes of ripe red fruits, white pepper, cedar and a hint of herbs. Elegant and medium-bodied, it has fine tannins, beautiful purity, and a pure, layered style.
