Austria has also been recognized as one of the most outstanding wine tour sites in the world.
You have a variety of options for day trips, both up the Danube and down, to visit producers of exceptional wines of many varieties
all the while enjoying a mouthwatering Schnitzel, amazing vegetarian options or some of the most delectable pastries.

The village of Durnstein is one of the oldest in Austria.
Home to the ruins of the castle that imprisoned Richard the Lion Heart
for nearly two years while they awaited the payment of the ransom from the British.
He had to be closely guarded so that a competing village wouldn"t snatch him.

Durnstein is in the heart of some of the finest wine country in Europe.
 Near to Heiligenstein, the most famous Riesling vineyard,
on the banks of the Danube and the steep, slate and Gneiss ridges
that foster fine whites and smooth reds.

we knew when we tasted it that educators of all kinds needed this kind of wine!

Crafted from several vineyards across three AVAs in Washington State (Columbia Valley, Red Mountain, and Walla Walla Valley), 
this red wine is a combination of many Bordeaux varietals, and includes a splash of Syrah for complexity. 
The name Blackboard celebrates the use of chalk in the winery, which is used for marking everything 
- from wine barrels, winery walls to fermentation tanks. 

A portion of Blackboard proceeds will be used to support local, national, and international educational charities.

This is a very small production. 
There are beautiful notes of strawberry, pureed raspberry, currants, plum jam and spice. 
Hints of vanilla bean, macerated berries and cocoa powder carry the palate.
