Tonight"s Tasting!
Sharon Gardner
International Cellars

Sharon has a fascinating group of wines to sample this evening.
I think you"ll find the Pinot Gris from Willamette and the two very different Malbecs of particular interest.
Make sure you separate the Malbecs with a taste of the Cabernet so that you can fully appreciate the marked differences between the French and the Argentinian!

Saturday: Fabio Marrone, Bravo Imports: Fabio"s Italian selections are always very tasty and extremely enjoyable as they are presented.
Make sure you take a moment to consider what you might be eating when you have the wines.
Italian wines, in particular, are made to be enjoyed with a meal. rarely are they served as a cocktail which is quite frequently the case in America.

The Wines!!
Finca La Linda Unoaked Chardonnay, Mendoza $14.99
13.8% ABV
La Linda Chardonnay Unoaked is a bright yellow- color wine with golden and greenish hues.
It has in- tense fruit aromas on the nose, typical of the variety that remind of pear and green apple combined with very attractive mineral notes.
It is fresh and brisk on the palate, as well as tasted round and medium-bodied.
Its acidity adds freshness expressed in a long and intensive finish. It is a tasty white wine, mouth filling and very pleasant elegance.

Anne Amis Pinot Gris, Oregon $21.99

13.3% ABV
An elegant expression of this versatile varietal. Intensely aromatic powdery floral notes give way to a palate of Asian pear, Meyer lemon and rose petal.
Balanced and crisp, this wine is a great match for many dishes from chicken paella or moules-frites to pork roast.

Gouleyant Malbec de Cahors, $14.99
13% ABV
“Le Gouleyant” (in French, it means easy to drink) is a selection of the best Malbecs grown on the highest gravely and clay terraces of the Cahors Appellation,
situated between the large loops of the Lot River, in the Southwest of France. Its taste is very typical of the Malbec variety whose birthplace is Cahors for more than 2000 years.

Andrew Rich, Rich Table Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley $22.99
Andrew Rich is one of the unique characters in Northwest wine, in that he has made a name for himself on both sides of the Columbia River. While based in Carlton, OR where he makes outstanding Willamette Valley Pinot Noir (not to mention one of Oregon"s best expressions of Sauvignon Blanc), he also makes exceptional wines from the Bordeaux varietals on the Washington side of the river. The "Rich Table" blend is rock solid expression of Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, albeit with a somewhat atypical character of lush blue fruits rather than the customary red fruit profile found in most of his contemporaries" wines. It"s an eminently approachable gem right now, but can easily age and improve under proper conditions for up to eight years.

Luigi Bosca Reserve Malbec, Mendoza $29.99
Deep ruby red color, with aromas of ripe red fruit, spices and black pepper.
The palate intensity is complemented by the softness and sweetness of the tannins. Full-bodied and structured.

The Beers!!
Collective Arts No. 12 IPA, 4 pack $16.99
6.9% ABV
BREWED W/ NELSON AND MOSAIC Crushed gooseberry, white grapes, red and blue berries - oh my!
IPA 12’s juicy bouquet showcases the best of New Zealand’s Nelson Sauvin hops and is married perfectly with American Mosaic;
dry hopped at an abundant rate of 16 grams per litre.

Commonwealth Sun Valley, 4 pack $19.99

Double IPA 8.2%.ABV
VERY HOP FORWARD. Kiwi. Southern Hemi Taiheke & Wakatu hops.

Dugges & Stillwater Cocoa Cacao, 20 oz. $8.99
Seeking out to make a beer so rich that terms like "lavish", "decadent" and "endulgent" just doesn"t quite cut it, Dugges teams up with Stillwater brewers for a beer that"s a chocolate bar in a glass.
Aptly named Cocoa Cacao, the strongly flavored Imperial Stout pours like chocolate syrup in a viscous and patient settling in the glass.
Before this one, we’d done six. All sours. So, when discussing our seventh collaboration, we knew we wanted to do something different.
Choice fell on a big, thick, creamy stout. So far so good, but how do we approach a stout?
What, other then sourness, is it that makes a Dugges/Stillwater collaboration? Clarity and directness was what we found.
