Dear Subscriber

It"s Saturday, November 2
at

The Wine Cabinet!

Daylight saving time ends on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 2 a.m. — which is the official hour to set all of our clocks back to standard time.
But most of us will probably "fall back" before we go to bed Saturday night.
1.) It"s not plural.
2.) When is it exactly? It"s TONIGHT!!!
3.) Never about the farmers
It was not started to help America"s farmers out. According to timeanddate.com, daylight saving time was first used in 1908 by a few hundred Canadians in Thunder Bay, Ontario. But Germany popularized DST after it first set the clocks forward on April 30, 1916, to save coal during World War I.

The Wines!!
Can Feixes Blanco Seleccio $15.99
White Blend Founded in 1768 by Don Jaime Feixes, the estate is now in the capable hands of brothers Joan and Josep Maria.
A young, dry white wine made from a careful selection of the grape varietals grown in Can Feixes, carefully nurtured to express the primary fruit and floral characteristics.

Domaine Bott-Geyl Cardinaux D"Alsace $19.99

91 points WE
Formerly called Pinot d"Alsace - The fruit is elegant and complex, on the palate, it is broad and fresh.
The broadness of this wine matches strong dishes.

Ken Wright Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley $29.99
Rather than stamping wine with a varietal trademark, Pinot noir is the ultimate vehicle for conveying the aroma, flavor and texture of the location in which it is grown.
Ken Wright Cellars produces a single vineyard Pinot Noir from 13 different vineyard sites in the Northern Willamette Valley.
Though not at the same level of complexity as the vineyard designates, this blend is extremely enjoyable, lush and full of pure, Pinot fruit.

Owen Roe "Ex Umbris" Syrah $24.99

Wow, what a beauty! This 2017 Syrah shows deep purple hues in the glass and mouthwatering aromas of candied sugarplum and fresh red raspberry swirl throughout.
The slight slate and vanilla notes are interlaced with juicy flavors of blackberry jam, Bing cherry compote and subtle hints of cocoa nib.
A mouthcoating Syrah from another hot summer in the Yakima Valley has our crew asking for more!
This is a delicious full-bodied, yet elegantly structured Syrah that is enjoyable now.

Owen Roe "Sharecroppers" Cabernet Sauvignon $21.99
During the economic recession of 2001, and Owen Roe’s first couple vintages as a winery, NW growers were facing hardship in selling their fruit, come harvest time.
At Owen Roe, we wanted to help our farming friends and prevent missing out on such well-tended, beautiful fruit.
We were presented with the difficult and costly purchasing of grapes to process, cellar and bottle, waiting several months to recover our costs on the finished wine.
To overcome this obstacle, we decided to bring back the historical business practice of sharecropping, resulting in the aptly named wine, “Sharecropper’s.” This partnership meant that Owen Roe would take the fruit, make the wine and once it was sold, share the profits with our growers. This remains an important part of our history and due to the success of this wine; we are now able to pay our growers upfront.

The Beers!!

Commonwealth Kalypso Double IPA, 4 pack $19.99
8.2%ABV
Chalkboard dark, gentle carbonation supports a thin ring of off white froth.
Cola, raisin, fig, barrel contributions are really focused, vanilla, char, molasses, add roast and dark barley.

Commonwealth Phosphor Double IPA, 4 pack $19.99
The 8.3% ABV big brother version of Papi Chulo, super juicy with low bitterness!

Saint Bernardus ABT 12, 750mL $14.99

Widely regarded as one of the best beers in the world. It is therefore no surprise that it is our brewery’s flagship beer, ranked at the very top of the St. Bernardus beer hierarchy.
It is brewed in the classic quadrupel style and adheres to the original 1946 recipe.
This is a dark beer with a robust head that is ivory in colour.
Brewed in the classic style of Belgium’s Trappist Monks.
It is almost ebony in color, smooth, creamy and full bodied with big richness of texture that is almost oily and very assertive, like a warming coconut brandy.
