Dear Subscriber

Today is Thursday, May 23
It"s Still National Barbeque Month and this weekend is Memorial Day!!!!

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering and honoring people who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Memorial Day was earlier known as Decoration Day and was instituted to recognize the soldiers and civilians that gave their lives and the families who suffered the loss of a loved one. It extended to the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Civil War, Spanish American War and other conflicts the United States was involved in. We should pause to recognize the sacrifices that have been made. You can click on the picture and go to a website dedicated to every veteran, USA Soldiers, Army Men and Women even to every American.

No weekend kicks off the grilling season like Memorial Day!
Only the Fourth of July equals this weekend for efforts to find the most exotic and mouthwatering offering for the entire neighborhood!

The Wine Cabinet has all the beer, wine and other accoutrements you need to make your Memorial Day Grilling adventures succeed.
More importantly, we are more than happy to spend some time with you to be certain that you have the perfect match for your particular favorite recipe.

We look forward to welcoming you at the shop this weekend!

"Fresh, clean, crips and lively (completely unoaked) with intense exotic fruit aromas.
Offering up juicy notes of white peach, gooseberry, and citrus, it’s medium-bodied, has good acidity, and a clean, balanced texture.
Meant to be enjoyed now!"

Friday: Bill Easton , Owner and Winemaker: For Amador County grape grower and winemaker William “Bill” Easton, the year was going great until the fall harvest.
Then he broke his right arm and sustained a deep gash to his left leg when he was catapulted through the air while unloading by hand a grape-bin trailer from a large flatbed trailer in one of his vineyards.

“Artisan winemaking and wine growing is down and dirty physical work, one of the reasons I like it,” Easton says,
patched up and back to overseeing Terre Rouge & Easton Wines, the Shenandoah Valley winery he owns with his wife, Jane O’Riordan.
His weekly tennis game, however, remains on hold.

Saturday: Free Run Wines, Kelly Allen: Fabulous Wine Selection; Exceptional Knowledge; Captivating Smile; Willingness to Pour More Wine - What more could you ask? If you of anything, ask Kelly and she"ll handle it!

Brews: Very few things go with BBQ Ribs better than beer.
Very few beers go with BBQ Ribs better than DogFish Head World Wide Stout!!!.
Try it. You"ll like it!

Rubus
French Table White
 Estate Bottled
2018

Gascony, France

80% Colombard, 10% Ugni Blanc,10% Gros Manseng
Sauvignon Blanc and White Bordeaux and lovers wait ‘til you taste this!
Fresh and Tangy, this will wake up your palate and the warmer weather fare you pair with it!
Once you sip you may be drinking this all summer!

This is Fran Kysela"s selection; he is a Master Sommelier and renowned importer. It"s pet project out of Gascony.
We are very fortunate that Fran is based  in nearby Winchester, VA as his portfolio of wines is outstanding.
He was named
The Wine Enthusiast 2013 Importer of The Year.

Just bottled with only 2700 cases made, this tiny production white blend typical does not get rated or even sent for review.
It is blend of three different grape varietals; each wine vinified separately, then aged on the lees for 3 months before bottling.
This approach intensifies the flavor and balance of the wine.

Our Thoughts.........

Fresh, clean and lively (never touches oak) with intense exotic fruit aromas.
Offering up juicy notes of white peach, gooseberry, and citrus, it’s medium-bodied, has good acidity, and a clean, balanced texture.
Crisp, clean and zesty in the mouth, it offers delicate flavors of citrus fruit and grapefruit on a long lingering finish.

About Rubus in their words….
There are winemakers across the globe crafting delicious, fruit-driven wines. There are wineries who are using the most expensive glass, who have hired the most creative artists to design their labels, who have created the most luxurious tasting rooms. Then, there are wineries whose efforts and resources have been devoted to creating the most satisfying wine they can conceive. Fran Kysela set out to find the latter - the ones who are focused on the juice in the bottle, so that he could offer consumers a pleasurable drink at a pleasurable price. He found what he was looking for, and he calls it Rubus.

Rubus is a private label created and used by Kysela Pere et Fils, LTD in order to buy, bottle and market wine found at an incredible quality/price ratio. Over the past few years, Rubus has become an international brand, encompassing wines from various continents.

Just to remind you of the ongoing opportunities we have:
Thursday Evening Open Bottle 4:00 - 8:00 pm - 1 wine rated highly and discounted generously;
Friday Evening Tasting 5:00 - 8:00 pm - 3 Beers, 5 wines discounted 10% from the first bottle;
Saturday Afternoon 1:00 - 5:00 pm - a different group of beers and wines and sometimes soup or chocolate or something else of interest!
