The Wine Cabinet

Dear Subscriber

It"s Saturday, March 9, at The Wine Cabinet!

Tonight"s the wretched night that we lose an hour of sleep through no fault or design of our own.
We vault back into Daylight Saving Time until someday in November - the greater portion of the year.
Still not quite sure why the need for this readjustment of our body clock exists.
We might all be a bit better off if the clocks just continued their march forward without any interference from us.

No matter. We still have an excellent array of wines and beers for you today!!
Fabio always brings well-selected Italian imports that not only taste good, but they"re good for you, too!
(at least good for your wallet. Oh, and they are high in resveratrol which is good for your heart function).

And you have to try the Jailbreak Special Lady!! Very hot in Charleston, SC right now.

The Wines!!

Dedicato Contessa Carola Prosecco Extra Dry, DOC $14.99
Prosecco is a sparkling white wine from north-eastern Italy, specifically the Veneto and Friuli-VeneziaGiulia wine regions.
It is also the informal name for the grape variety used to make these wines, which is now known officially as Glera .
This is a light refreshing very adaptable wine. excellent as an Aperitif or with hors d"ouerves.

Santa Alessandra Pinot Grigio $13.99
Color: Gold colored, with shades of coppery or yellow onion peel.
Fragrance: It starts its olfactory sensations with mineral hints and fruity ones like pomegranate. Hints of white fruit, pear and Golden apple.
Flavour: Its flavour is full and rich, with hints of ripe yellow fruit. Structured and balanced, long and complex, its strong taste makes it a wine with a strong personality and versatile.
Food Pairings: Hearty soups, risotto, pasta with tomato, white meat or fish sauces. It goes well with white meats, fried or baked fish, or fish with tomato souce. Ideal as aperitif.

Taliano Michele Barbera D"Alba $20.99

THE VINE BARBERA COMES FROM THE ZONE OF MONFERRATO. IT ARRIVED IN THE AREA OF ALBA AF-TER THE INVASION OF THE GRAPE PHYLLOXERA (TO-WARDS THE END OF "800) AND IT HAS QUICKLY SPREAD FOR ITS GIFTS OF ROUGHNESS AND PRODUCTIVITY.The Barbera d"Alba "A bon rendre"has an intense ruby red colour, it smells of fruit, it is fragrant and it has a full taste with equili-brated acidity well supported by the structure.

Terramea Cannonau Sardegna $14.99
TASTING NOTES: This wine shows the typicity of the Cannonau grape (Grenache or Garnacha - uncertain whether it originated in Spain or Sardinia) with flavors of very ripe strawberries, black cherries, herbs, and spices. The warmth and intense sunlight of southern Sardinia can be seen and felt in the wine with unexpectedly deep color and fullness on the palate. French oak barriques provide rounded tannins and flavors of vanilla.
FOOD PAIRING: Meat cooked over an open flame is an artform in Sardinia and specialties such as spit-roasted suckling pig or lamb seem perfect for the rich and complex flavors of Cannonau. The cooking fire is often imbued with local herbs and myrtle, flavors that are perfectly mirrored in a glass of Cannonau.

Azienda Conte di Campania Primitivo $19.99
FERMENTATION: Steel tanks at controlled temperature;
COLOUR: Deep ruby red;
BOUQUET: Intense and complex with notes of ripe plum, morello cherry and spices;
