The Wine Cabinet

Monday is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
A National Day of recognition for the leadership and inspiration shown by a courageous man during a very difficult time for the nation. I think that we can all agree that we would be somewhat better off if a bit more of that same leadership and dedication to the country were shown on both sides of the aisle today.

Perhaps they just need to share a better bottle of wine!

Tuesday, The Wine Club meets to study Syrah/Shiraz - we"ll taste samples from around the globe.

If you don"t yet have a seat, don"t delay. There are only a few remaining!

And don"t forget to grab some Saga Blue cheese and RainForest Crisps while you are in the shop!!

We"ll look forward to seeing you!!

Always Drink Responsibly.

It all starts Tonight with  Open Bottle Thursday!

Our Thoughts on this wine.....

The red wine reflects the rich, round powerful style of Washington fruit, highlighting six different varietals. It is a true example of the art of blending. It offers jammy boysenberry flavors from the Syrah with a luscious concentration from the Merlot.  You will not find many wines outside of Washington state that are this rich and ripe.

About Chateau Ste. Michelle..........
"GREAT WINE CAN ONLY COME FROM ITALY OR CALIFORNIA"

Or at least that was the misconception the Chateau’s founding fathers set out to prove wrong when they first broke ground years ago and pioneered the Washington wine region.

1912

Built on the 1912 estate owned by Seattle lumber baron Frederick Stimson, the winery’s roots date back to the Repeal of Prohibition.

1967-72 Built on the 1912 estate owned by Seattle lumber baron Frederick Stimson, the winery’s roots date back to the Repeal of Prohibition.
The first vines were planted at Cold Creek Vineyard in Eastern Washington in 1972.

1976-2017
Four years later, Ste. Michelle Vintners built a French style winery Chateau in Woodinville, and changed its name to Chateau Ste. Michelle.
Since then, we have combined Old World winemaking traditions with New World innovation. In fact, Chateau Ste. Michelle is one of the few premium wineries in the world with two state-of-the-art wineries, one for red and one for white. The whites are made at the Chateau in Woodinville, WA, while the reds are made at our Canoe Ridge Estate winery in Eastern Washington.

The Wines!!

Anton Bauer Roter Veltliner $16.99
Medium green-yellow. Inviting notes of pineapple and carambola laced with blossom honey comprise a subtle and multifaceted bouquet. Elegantly concentrated with pleasant fruit sweetness balanced by vibrant acidity. Pineapple, apricot and minerals.

Paul Direder Romana $11.99
Paul D. pours passion and love into his wines. Working in his own vineyards since he was 17, the lonesome cowboy of winegrowing and farming produces high quality wines for your everyday enjoyment. When Paul D.’s great-great-grandfather started with classic agriculture and a few vineyards more than 160 years ago, he did not anticipate that his wines would win the appeal of customers around the world.

Steiniger Pinot Noir $19.99
This Pinot Noir shows a precise balance between the fruit and acidity that makes it fresh and lively. It has a typical Pinot Noir nose with strawberries, raspberries and floral notes such as violets. On the palate the wine is well balanced, elegant and it has a long finish tasting of red berries. An all-purpose red, easy to drink and it pairs with many different dishes from fish and vegetables to lighter meat dishes and spicy food.

Anton Bauer Wagram Reserve $29.99
The best barrels of Anton Bauer’s wines are blended every year to make this full-bodied velvety smooth wine exuding hints of black pepper, rich red berries and spices. It shows the terroir beautifully, a simply amazing effort for an Austrian red.

Wine Enthusiast 92 pts, Falstaff Winemaker of the Year

Hillinger  Blaufränkisch "Leithaberg" $34.99
Leithaberg is the newest DAC in Austria and this wine is dark ruby red with a black core. Ripe cherry, blackberry, graphite, licorice, and spicy notes. Fresh cherry-fruits on the plate, tight structure, but soft.
A wine with elegant tannin, good acidity, dark berries and good spice on the long smooth finish.
This wine matches more than perfectly to grilled steaks, lamb and venison.
