From Peanuts to Peanut Brittle to wine (most certainly).

Speaking of wine, we"re quite happy with the Open Bottle this week and that Dave will be in the shop to help with the sampling.
It"s an exceptional value for an outstanding Montrachet!!

ONLY 6 CASES LEFT!!

And that leads me to the great values that Kate has in gift ware! Halloween  goods are out and available. If past years are an indicator the goods won"t last too far into October, so do not delay!!

We look forward to seeing you this weekend!!

Don"t forget that we can chill a bottle for your arrival if you give us a call.

And we"re more than happy to match up wines and dinner menus!! And we love doing it!!

Domaine Bzikot
"Les Folatieres"
Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru 2006

Cote de Beaune, France

If upon seeing the name "Bzikot" you thought it didn"t sound very French, then you"d be right.
Sylvain"s grandfather arrived in the village of Puligny from Poland just before the start of the first great war with nothing but the clothes he stood up in.
There are only sixteen Grand Cru in the appellation and they each have a deserved reputation for consistently excellent wines that age exceptionally well.
This wine has reached its maturity and will hold its quality level for 2-4 years.

For those of you who loved some of the wines that Dave was pouring last Friday, this is another hidden gem that you might only find on the wine lists of the best restaurants in the Metro area!!
I"ve sampled this one myself and I was impressed with the depth and intensity of flavors as well as the extraordinary balance of freuit and acidity. This is definitely a wine that you"ll need for holiday celebrations or gift giving!! -
mike

92 Points! - Cellar Tracker

"The bouquet brings together hawthorn blossoms, ripe grapes, marzipan, hazelnut, amber, lemon-grass and apple. Milky (butter, hot croissant) and mineral aromas (flint) are present as is honey. Body and bouquet blend into a subtle harmony. This wine combines grace with a well defined character and a remarkable concentration."

"The nose opens up nicely with air, limestone, apple, chalk, a full-bodied, complex wine, the palate is round and shows good richness and acidity, a wave of apple and ripe green melon flavors, coupled with notes of butter and nut elements, the finish is long and mouthwatering." - Christian Schiller

Our Thoughts on this wine.....

The wine has richness and density with a creamy, rich, buttery and nutty nose. It is also creamy on the palate with flavours of vanilla, but also with a good mineral spine and citrus freshness.

A bit about Sylvain Bzikot and the Puligny Appellation......
An amazing story not typical of Burgundy, the Bzikot family are Polish emigrés who arrived in Puligny just before the first great war with nothing but the clothes he stood in. From those very humble beginnings this family domaine has managed to acquire an impressive 4 hectares of some of the most valuable agricultural land in the world in Puligny-Montrachet.
With minimal intervention in the vineyards and cellar, Sylvain Bzikot produces wines that are at one ripe and rich, yet elegant and complex.
Affable and fun-loving, he is one of the underground wine making stars of the region.

Puligny-Montrachet and its Crus are concentrated and well-bred. Their balance, aromatic complexity, and purified style demand delicate but rich food. They are equally at home with poultry in sauce or veal fried with mushrooms. Their great distinction elicits a grateful response from foie gras, lobster, crawfish, and grilled or fried sea-fish. On the cheese-board, its natural allies are goat cheeses, Reblochon, or soft-centred cheeses like Brie de Meaux.

The Wines!!!

Gainey Ranch Sauvignon Blanc $15.99
Produced entirely from grapes we cultivate at our Home Ranch in eastern Santa Ynez Valley, our Estate Grown Sauvignon Blanc boasts bright citrus, honeydew melon, mineral and subtle herb aromas. On the palate, the wine is rich, mouthwatering and beautifully structured, with vibrant grapefruit, melon and guava flavors culminating in a long, crisp finish invigorated by zesty citrus, spice and mineral tones. Delicious now with a broad range of seafood, poultry and salad dishes, it will develop further nuance with another 1-2 years of bottle age.

Joleto Pinot Gris Willamette Valley $22.99
Harvested from two of Oregon"s top old-vine vineyard sources – Olenik Vineyard (Chehalem Mountains AVA) and Lazy River Vineyard (Yamhill-Carlton AVA). The Joleté Pinot Gris was pressed and tank fermented in September 2015, having 10% oak-fermented Olenik fruit added to the final blend for desired texture. The resulting wine shows a natural balance of citrus, fruit, and minerality indicative of its AVA sources, with a focused acidity that drives the apricot and melon character through the finish.

90-POINTS, Wine Enthusiast Editors" Choice: "This marries New World ripeness to Euro styling. Plump apple and pear fruit carries highlights of bee pollen and honey, with excellent grip and length." - Paul Gregutt, 2016

Trim Chardonnay California $14.99

Trim Cabernet Sauvignon $14.99
TRIM is a well-crafted Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from outstanding vineyards in California. Our winemaking team works with some of the best vineyards to produce a lush, well balanced, and fruit forward Cabernet Sauvignon. This is the best valued wine on the market.

Sophisticated Flavor, Sensible Value
2012 Trim, “The Bargain of the Century!!

Edge Cabernet Sauvignon Napa $24.99
The main reason behind EDGE is to give our customers a premium Cabernet Sauvignon, without the premium price. EDGE is the most reasonable Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that one will find on the shelf, which does not compromise on quality.
Blended by a notable winemaker, EDGE Cabernet Sauvignon drinks wonderfully now, and will age well for five to eight years. Edge spent 16 months in French oak barrels, of which 35% were new. It is a blend of Cabernet and a small amounts of Merlot and Cabernet Franc
The partnership that came together to produce this remarkable wine, not to mention exceptional value, has a long history in the wine, leisure, and investment sectors.

Ramon Bilbao Limited Edition Rioja 2013 $18.99

Intense ruby red with black-cherry glints. Deep robe. Clear and bright. High intensity on the nose, with a perfect balance of dark fruit and oak. The spicy nuances play a key role, with black pepper, cloves and cumin. Clean wood aromas with notes of cocoa, dry tobacco leaves and mint. Smooth, fruity mouth-feel with a long finish. Pleasant, polished tannins. Good acidity and in the retronasal phase a faithful reflection of what you find on the nose.
It is a perfect wine to accompany beef, smoked dishes, soft cheeses and international cuisine such as Mexican or spicy Chinese dishes.

 Critical Acclaim WS 90 points!!
Wine Spectator - "Black cherry and red plum flavors are fresh and lively in this bright red. Tangerine acidity and light, firm tannins keep this focused. Spice and floral notes add interest on the finish. Drink now through 2023."

Saturday Afternoon Tasting

Annabella Wines from Michael Pozzan
Margot Blattmann

Annabella
Named to honor Michael Pozzan’s venerable grandmother, Annabella wines are hand sourced from select vineyards throughout the Sonoma and Napa valleys. Whether cabernet sauvignon, merlot or chardonnay, these wines are a toast to a spirited woman of remarkable grace. We remember her love of cooking for family and friends and we celebrate it to this day. Annabella wines represent a wonderful combination of quality and value.

The Wines!!

Chardonnay $17.99

Striking a balance between fruit and oak, this Chardonnay is liked by all as it offers richness and clean acidity.  It is strong enough to pair with food and easy enough to drink by itself.

Pinot Noir $21.99
A Pinot Noir that is true to its character; fruit forward and delicate.  Not manipulated by other varietals, the Carneros Pinot has fruit that is richer than others found from Sonoma.

Merlot $21.99
Merlot is one the great noble French varietals and is often made like Cabernet Sauvingon here in Napa.  If you like Merlot that tastes like Cab, buy our Cabernet.  This Merlot is soft with tannins allowing the fruit to show its character.

Red Blend $19.99
The best thing about red wine blends is that you have the ability to make the best wine possible by using many different varietals.  This Cabernet based blend is from both Napa and California vineyards that provides big fruit and is easy to drink.

Napa Cabernet Sauvignon $24.99
This wine is what we are most known for.  It has the depth and complexity you"d come to expect from any Napa Cab but at a fraction of the cost. This wine is a perfect everyday drinking Cab that you can enjoy regulary.

New from Stone and Berlin Brewing  Escondido, CA and Piozzo, Italy

ARROGANT BREWING / BALADIN "IN BOCCA AL LUPO": Malty Biscuit opens the palate before moving to dried fruits and almonds, then giving way to the bitterness of the Gentian root and hops. Finishes with mild Belgian esters. Sweet Belgian esters, dark fruits, caramel spice and moutian rose
Radici. Due icone si incontrano a Berlino per augurare in bocca al lupo alla craft beer revolution. Collaborateurs Teo Musso and Greg Koch share many things in common. Chief among them they began their rise to prominence in the late 1990’s with big, bold beers, and these gents are, shall we say, full of braggadocio, swagger and unrepentant joie de vivre. Also in common was the way in which, with aggressive intention, they each so cavalierly sabotaged norms that had been so irresponsibly led by the lowest common denominator purveyors of industrial beer.  Thus, it’s only natural that having first met in Piozzo, Italy in 2000, the pair found themselves to be international comrades and lifelong friends in the craft beer revolution.
This beer needs to be sufficiently scaled to the personalities brewing it. Therefore, it is unquestionably full of braggadocio, swagger and unrepentant joie de vivre. High in the Italian Alps, whence the gentian root [radice di genziana] was sourced, lie the lairs of Italian wolves (natch). Lupo and luppulo is Italian for wolf and hops, respectively. This is all the excuse that we needed.

New From Firestone Paso Robles, CA

Luponic Distotion Revolution NO. 007: The latest release in Firestone Walker’s Luponic Distortion revolving hop series, featuring yet another trailblazing blend of distinctive hops.True to form, Luponic Distortion Revolution No. 007 represents a fresh iteration of Luponic Distortion led by three hop varieties from Australia. Revolution No. 007 marks the second time that Luponic Distortion has dipped down into the Southern Hemisphere for its lead hops, following the South African hops that set the tone for Revolution No. 004 last year.
“The hop intensity level on Revolution No. 007 is high,” says Brewmaster Matt Brynildson. “The primary Australian hop is loaded with this bright, citrusy Sauvignon Blanc character, and the other two hops round it out with classic Southern Hemisphere qualities.”

New From Against the Grain Louisville,KY

70k Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout: This super rare beer from Against the Grain(Limit one per person). Taking awesome and doubling it can only be double awesome. It’s math.
