Dear Subscriber

Crisis of Understanding

Coexist was created to address the crisis of understanding that tears at the social fabric of societies around the world. Globalization has outpaced our understanding of one another, creating divisions that plague communities with prejudice, hate and violence.

These divides create instability that affect every facet of life, reducing global economic output, health, education, and progress in arts and science. In our interconnected world, a lack of social cohesion generates shock waves that damage not only the immediate region, but produce real consequences for the economy and job opportunities in communities on the other side of the world.

Understanding Changes Everything

Coexist is on a mission to advance social cohesion through education and innovation.

May your celebrations of Passover and Easter this week help to advance the
Understanding and Acceptance of all beliefs that bring us together as a Human Family.

We have some special surprises for you this weekend!!

"A Fantastic example of the rich complexity of fruit and supporting structure for which wines from the Columbia Valley are known. The combination of southeastern facing slopes, huge swings in daytime to nightime temperatures and a long growing season builds depth and elegance in the lush Cabernet. - Mike

"A full and complex entrance sets the tone. Layers of varietal characteristics flow through the mid-palate.
The structure and balanced tannins lend  to  a lingering finish."

 The Wine.....

The Columbia Valley was Washington"s first AVA and it is still the largest. Washington"s wine county is blessed with a terroir of abundant sunshine.
Sharing the same 46° latitude as Burgundy and Bordeaux, the combination of Washington"s  warm days, crisp cool evenings and well-draining, sandy soils yield grapes with a perfect ripeness and acidity critical for the crafting of world-class wine.
This idyllic terroir allows the region to produce wines that are both fruit forward  and structured.

The 2013 vintage is comprised of fruit from several different vineyards, predominately The Benches, Les Collines, Alder Ridge and Heather Hill. The addition of Merlot and Cab Franc contribute to the blend"s full body and firm tannins.
Black fruits like blackberry and black cherry take center stage in this smooth and balanced wine.
After a rich entrance, fruit and earth blend seamlessly through a lingering finish .

 The Process.....
Fruit for the 2013 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was cold soaked, punched down and pumped over. The wine then underwent  delestage and an extended maceration process. This Cabernet Sauvignon benefited from 18 months in French and American  oak.

 The Vineyard.....
2013 was among the warmest vintages on record for the state. While yields were high, smaller berries with thick skins created wines with dense structure and ample color and flavor. In mid-September, cooler temperatures moved in while the weather stayed dry and grapes were allowed optimum hang time before harvest.

WINEMAKER  TASTING NOTES

The Wines!

Chateau Suau Bordeaux Blanc $11.99
This wine reveals complex aromas of honeysuckle, citrus and pineapple. It"s refreshing and expressive. An excellent depth of fruit as well as a long finish with a nice acidity.
A very fresh bouquet for this dry white wine that shows a beautiful harmony between the exotic and white fruits. In the mouth, the Sauvignon brings power and character, Semillon brings a juicy and flavorful finish and Muscadelle brings roundness.

Lexicon Chardonnay $17.99
Lexicon Chardonnay boasts the superior California quality of the United States favorite grape. In the 1940"s California had a mere 100 acres planted while today over a 100,000 acres produce myriad styles of Chardonnay. Usually we prefer white wines that are crisp, clean and unoaked. It"s a little-known fact that we also enjoy Chardonnay with silky textures, weighty layers of richness and a luxurious dollop of toasty new oak. Our Lexicon Chardonnay from the Golden State is evidence of our belief that wine is ultimately a beverage of pleasure.

Domaine de la Mordoree", "La Remise" Rose" $15.99
"Very light garnet. Showing notes of ripe strawberry and a hint of rhubarb, this is a full-flavored, yet dry rosé with rich extract on a long finish. With good structure and complex, somewhat earthy flavors, this is the rare rosé that may provoke discussion. A 50/50 blend of Marselean and Merlot grown using biodynamic methods."

Siegel Pinot Noir $16.99
Viña Siegel is a family operated winery with a well-established tradition and long history. For generations we have been dedicated to the art of crafting wines with strong identities. Our Special Reserve wines represent the union of tradition and innovation in two generations. The grapes are sourced through careful selection of our best vineyards. Their ripe and round tannins clearly express the terroir of Colchagua. Siegel Special Reserve Pinot Noir is Casablanca Valley.

This Pinot Noir shows a light red color, aromas of roses and fresh fruits such as strawberry and cherry. The wine presents soft tannins and good acidity.

Balius Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa 2012 $34.99
On the nose, the 2012 Reserve Block Cabernet shows complex aromas of sweet blackberry coulis, currants, and black licorice. The dense palate is packed with an intense combination of dark red and blue berries, baking spices, and sweet tobacco. The oak is integrated seamlessly, and the perfectly balanced components come together in a smooth finish that lasts for nearly a minute.

The Wines!!

Becker Estate Pinot Blanc $22.99

Chalk / Limestone soils produce this precise and flawless transparency of exotic guava, mango and pineapple intertwined with texturally rich honeydew melon that melds with tangelo juice. Kaffir lime blossom and Elderflower create citrus tinged, mouth-coating power from start to finish.
A riveting example of some of the finest, most affordable pristine Pinot Blanc available in the market!

Pali Riviera Chardonnay, Charm Vineyard $23.99
Golden straw, brilliant clarity. Fresh and balanced, this Sonoma County Chardonnay offers aromas of fresh stone fruits - white peach, crème brulee, and sea salt – with floral notes of honeysuckle and jasmine. A fresh burst of acidity, followed with touches of toasty oak on the mid-palate and finishes clean with more tart acidity. Well-balanced with both minerality and a touch of new oak. Flavors of orange and lemon peel, green apples, baked peaches, brine, graham crackers and vanilla bean.

Becker Estate Pinot Noir $24.99

Newcomer of the Year in 2006 and for eight of the last nine years the estate produced Germany’s top Pinot Noir as chosen by Gault-Millau. For many years now, the Becker estate located in Schweigen, very far south of the Pfalz on the border of Alsace, has been one of the top Pinot Noir producers in Germany.
The best Becker Pinot Noirs compare favorably with the best Burgundy has to offer.

Some of the fruit for this Estate Pinot Noir is from the estates top Grosses Gewächs vineyards. The chalky limestone yields supple flavors of black cherry fruit, baked rhubarb, and blueberry on palate. There’s a velvety finesse, which yields to aromatic violets and lavender, freshly picked tarragon, cola and bitter dark chocolate.
A real crowd pleaser!

Orin Swift "Locations" F3 $19.99
A heavy purple hue envelops the glass with a tinge of ruby on the band. The nose reveals compelling , perfumed aromas of ripe cherry, kirsch, blackberry preserve , lavender, and subtle spice notes. Spirited upon entry, the palate is treated to persuasive and distinctive flavors of strawberry compote, crushed plum , and mocha. The silky mouth feel gives way to a pleasing middle with notes of black tea, roasted fig, and juicy acidity. Finishing with purpose, dark fruits linger effortlessly with an attractive mineral tone.

Andrew Will Cabernet Franc $39.99
Cabernet Franc in the spotlight with this delicious and reasonably priced wine. It opens with aromas of Italian seasonings, cherry, crushed leaf and red plum, followed by flavors of dark chocolate, cherry, plum and sage. It’s a classic Washington Cab Franc with the herbal notes we tend to long for. Enjoy with lasagna, pizza with pepperoni and black olives or polenta.

The Beerman.......

We have a few returning favorites that I sold out last week but got more in this week! The Bruery Melange #3 is a MUST TRY for all beer aficionados this week! It"s on the pricier side, but if you love barrel aged beers its a steal! Other than that, we got a few super fresh IPAs in also!
Perfect for this weather!

As always, check us out on Facebook   for a more detailed list (and photos!).  - Dave

The Bruery Melange #3: 96 points from BeerAdvocate! "Mélange #3 is a blend of three bourbon barrel aged strong ales. White Oak Sap, a wheat wine, our Anniversary Series old ale and our imperial Stout, Black Tuesday, join forces in this luxurious strong ale that links some of the best characteristics of each of the contributing beers. Chocolate, dark fruits, oaky vanilla and rich toffee-like character reach through the bourbon veneer for an intensely satisfying quaff."

The Bruery Share This: OC Imperial Stout with Orange Zest, Cacao, & Vanilla Bean:
No Ratings Yet! "Share This: OC is a rich, imperial stout infused with orange-chocolate flavors. It’s a profile we’re quite fond of, given the abundance of orange trees in our own backyard. Food Forward takes it one step further – reaching over 100,000 people a month throughout eight counties in Southern California (including Orange County) with recovered fresh fruits and vegetables that would normally go to waste from backyard fruit trees, public orchards, farmers markets and the downtown Los Angeles Wholesale Produce Market. To achieve the orange-chocolate flavor profile in this beer, we use orange zest, vanilla and TCHO cacao nibs. For every bottle we produce, Food Forward receives one dollar."

Ballast Point Unfiltered Sculpin IPA:
4.1 Stars from Untapp"d! "Our trophy beer, extra-hopped and unfiltered. Our Unfiltered Sculpin IPA packs extra hops into every sip, enhancing the classic Sculpin notes of fresh apricot, peach, mango and lemon with a slight haze and less bitterness. Freshness is key to every beer, but especially true for this extra-hopped IPA—store cold and drink soon."

Against the Grain Rico Sauvin Double IPA:
93 points from The Alstrom Bros. of BeerAdvocate! "Fruity, Hoppy, Malty, Macho! Honey amber in color with a massive creamy head. Fruity on the nose with pine and candied citrus. This is a creamy beer with a dry, semi-astringent hoppy bite beneath. A malty sweetness and notes of caramel coat the palate with some balance. Fruity suggestions of wine grapes, oranges, berries, notes of grapefruit and a citric edge smooth into a bready finish with some lingering alcohol and a coarse, oily bitterness that sticks around. With its focus on Nelson Sauvin hops, Rico Sauvin is a macho Double IPA that makes you want to don a bandana, bare your chest and learn Spanglish."

Firestone Walker Fortem Unfiltered Imp. IPA "Leo vs Ursus":
93 points from BeerAdvocate! "This beer is Firestone Walker all the way. For those that are familiar with Firestone Walkers IPA"s, you will know immediately that you are drinking one of their beers. Its bright and crisp, with a ultra clean citrus and pine finish. I really enjoyed how this Double IPA focused on being hop forward. Drinks much lighter than your typical IIPA. If your a Firestone Walker fan, you won"t be disappointed. For those seeking a enjoyable, easy to drink, clean and bright Imperial IPA, with notes of citrus and pine, this is your beer."
